The leisurely 5km stroll will begin at The Cross at the top of Eastgate Street in the heart of Chester. Walkers will pass down the street to the city’s famous Clock where they’ll take steps up onto the walls. Chester Races In September

Dee Festival
Saturday 13th September 2008
First Race at 14:30
Summer Finale
Saturday 27th September 2008
First Race at 14:15
Chester racecourse's position in the city makes race meetings very popular as it is only a short stroll to all the bars, restaurants and hotels. An elevated view of the course can be had from the old city walls. The flat racecourse itself is just over 1 mile, and raced anti-clockwise/left-handed. The finishing straight is just 239 yards. As such, long-strided horses, which perform better on straights, are at a distinct disadvantage. Come and enjoy great racing on the oldest racecourse still in use in England!
