D’ Meltin’ Pot Promotes Live Music in Chester!
Live music in Chester got a boost this summer with the opening of D’ Meltin’ Pot, Chester’s newest music and dance venue, and new dates for the autumn continue the incredible line-up.
Said D’ Meltin’ Pot’s owner, Mike Mitchell: “We’ve some great bands coming up, ranging from local favourites like The Goodfellas to fantastic young bands such as The Loose Kites, who are really breaking through. And, of course, as I’m from Trinidad originally, you can expect some Latin and Caribbean flavour thrown in! We’re starting that with Mojito, a seven-piece salsa band, who are playing for us on Saturday 5th September 09. ” ![]() Appearing at D’ Meltin’ Pot on Friday 11th September 09, The Goodfellas are described as “the North West’s premier soul rhythm & blues show band”. The fully self-contained, 10-piece Soul, Rhythm 'n' Blues band use the skills of some of the very best musicians from around the country and have shared the stage with numerous acts including Girls Aloud, The Sugababes, Gareth Gates, Van Morrison and Def Leppard. The Loose Kites (Friday 18th September 09) are rapidly hitting the headlines, having been hailed as one of the most exciting folk acts this country has produced in recent years. The News of the World described them as “sunny, funny, and downright infectious ...” and the London Standard as “…best unsigned band”. The band released their debut CD in 2008 with 2 successful singles, animation and videos and their 3rd single, \'Roo Ba Bah\', is planned for release this autumn. They’ve frontpaged on iTunes around the world and continue to tour the UK playing regular gigs from Dublin and Glasgow to London including this year’s Wickerman Festival. Said Mike : “It’s going to be jumping on the 18th September when they head-line at D’ Meltin’ Pot, supported by DJ sets from The Farm.” Other bands to look out for performing at D’ Meltin’ Pot soon are Tigers that Talked (Friday 2nd October) and Hot Club de Paris (Friday 9th October). Tigers that Talked are touring throughout the UK including London, Leeds, Sheffield & now Chester! They have a new single, Artificial Clouds, out in October. The band is focused around Jamie on guitar and vocals and Glenna’s violin. Coupled with Owain on bass and Chris on drums, this energetic band are a must see. They combine pop hooks with the romanticism of folk to create a fresh new sound - their first single, 23 Fears, was selected as Steve Lamacq\'s record of the week as well as receiving ir play on Radio 1 and XFM. Tigers that Talked will be supported at D’ Meltin’ Pot by local favourites Fran & Josh. Said Mike: “Enjoying live music is one of the best nights out – there are so few venues in the Chester area putting on bands that when we opened D’ Meltin’ Pot I was determined to include plenty of live music.” As well as live music, D’ Meltin’ Pot has a busy weekly programme of music and dance events including dance classes and parties in salsa, street dance, and flamenco plus a regular Wednesday jam / open mic session.
