Groove is in the Art

Local cult artists DoodlePlanet have teamed up with Chester music and dance venue D’Meltin’ Pot to present “Soul Scribbling” – an evening of tunes mixed with live art and dancing taking place on Friday 6 November.

Dave Setter, aka the Compulsive Scribbler, will be creating some live pieces on the night to a soundtrack of soul, jazz, funk, latin, and hip-hop served up by DJ Matty Setter.

As well as dancing and networking there will also be live animation art and projections from Charlie Pastor and a chance to join in with “Pass the Sketchbook” – an exciting new drawing experience for all organized by DoodlePlanet’s Heidi Reilly.

Towards the end of the night, artwork created by Dave during Soul Scribbling will be auctioned off, with proceeds going to Cancer Research.

Said club owner Mike Mitchell: “If you thought you had to go to London to take part in live art, think again… Soul Scribbling is going to be a really fun night with an added twist. It’s not just for culture vultures – the interactive format and soul sounds will appeal to anyone who wants to try something a bit different to their normal Friday night out in Chester.”

DoodlePlanet’s members are based in North Wales and their regular music and art nights in Chester have developed an enthusiastic following. Said Matty Setter: “We hope that through the music and art we create an atmosphere that encourages expression and communication. Soul Scribbling is about people who fancy something different on a Friday night being able to come have a dance, a good time and watch Dave produce some great artwork all in a lovely venue!”

DoodlePlanet Presents Soul Scribbling starts at 8 pm on Friday 6th November and ends at 2 am. Entry is £3 on the door.
