Chester Charity Puts on Party Night for Malawian Orphanage

3rd World Hope, a charity set up by two former Christleton High School students, is planning to raise the roof at Fiesta Havana on Friday 5th February with a fundraising party in aid of its Malawi Orphanage Project.

Said founder Shaun Williams; “We’re pulling out all the stops to make this a great night, with African dancers, drinks promotions, auctions, DJs, games and a lot of fun! The tickets are just £5 pounds each and will include a free cocktail or beer, so please get your tickets now and help us to make this a night to remember for a great cause!”

Deva Deliveries courier driver Shaun Williams and Moules a Go-Go chef Howard Edwards, both 25, have been friends since school. They came up with idea of starting 3rd World Hope after spending time travelling in Africa. Although they visited the continent separately a year apart, both spent time in the village of Kamusita in Malawi and were overwhelmed by the welcome given by such a deprived village.

Shaun and Howard made a real difference to Kamusita in 2009 by raising £4000 and travelling to Malawi to source and deliver mosquito nets, plant maize, install a fresh water pump and get supplies for the local school. They even established a chicken farm that could be run be the local orphanage to fund the orphans’ secondary education.

Now 3rd World Hope has official charity status and the boys have set themselves an even tougher target of raising £10,000 by this July, when they will return to Kamusita to build a new orphanage.

Said Shaun: “We really want to top last year’s party, which raised £1400, so we’re asking people to buy tickets in advance from Fiesta Havana, Moules a Go-Go and the University of Chester’s reception. Alternatively they can email info@3rdworldhope.org.uk.” Doors will open at 8pm at Fiesta Havana on 5th February, and any remaining tickets will be available on the door.
