The Church of St. John the Baptist, Chester's first cathedral. The church's appearance today is very different to the original. The tall Gothic tower fell down in 1881. This movie show you inside some of the sandstone ruins. Pan the view around and you can see a wooden coffin inset into one of the walls! This was placed here to fill a gap in the unstable masonry. But it is a genuine solid oak coffin from the 14th century. This area around St. John's is said to be haunted by a monk! He appears in a cowl and speaks to people in Anglo-Saxon.
